Vietnam Electricity (EVN) is a state-owned economic group, established under Decision No. 562 / QD-TTg dated October 10, 1994 of the Prime Minister on the basis of reorganization of direct units. under the Ministry of Energy; organized and operated in accordance with the Charter issued together with the Government's Decree No. 14 / CP of January 27, 1995. With the task of supplying electricity to the socio-economic development needs of the country, EVN currently has 3 power generation corporations (GENCO 1, 2, 3) and 8 hydropower / thermal power companies in the field of power generation, 5 electricity corporations that trade electricity to customer that is Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC), Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC), Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC), Hanoi Power Corporation (EVNHANOI), Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation (EVNHCMC). The main business is producing, transmitting and importing and exporting electricity. The Group builds power generation plants, power grid systems that distribute to households, regulates the national grid, exports and imports electricity with neighboring countries such as China and Laos, ensure the implementation of the electricity supply plan at the request of the Vietnamese government. Electricity output produced and purchased is estimated at 226.4 billion kWh (2019).
