Standing above Vietnam in Southeast Asia are Singapore and Thailand, with a total LPI score of 4.00 and 3.41, respectively.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Quoc Khanh shared in a seminar held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade on July 30, Vietnam is also among the top emerging markets with import-export growth rates ranging from 14-16%. The Deputy Minister emphasized that the increase in improvement of the quantity and quality of logistics services are the result of efforts of both enterprises and the Government.
Mr. Tran Thanh Hai - Deputy Director of the Import and Export Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade shared that Vietnam's total import and export turnover in the period 2010-2020 has tripled compared to before. In which, logistics plays an important role in national economic development, especially in import and export activities, production and circulation of goods. In addition, Mr. Hai affirmed that the Government, as well as ministries, sectors and businesses, are always concerned with cutting logistics costs to improve the competitiveness of the country and businesses.
At the seminar, experts share that the logistics industry needs to develop high-quality human resources, boost IT applications, and modernize management and operating methods to reduce costs and enhance service quality.
According to Decision No 221/QĐ-TTg in 22/2/2021 of the Prime Minister amending and supplementing Decision No. 200/QD-TTg 14/2/2017 approving the Action Plan to improve efficient competitiveness and development of logistics services in Vietnam 2025 (referred to as the Action Plan), the logistics sector of Vietnam is expected to contribute 5-6% to the gross domestic product (GDP). Furthermore, the whole industry achieved a growth rate of 15-20%, the rate of outsourcing logistics services reached 50%-60%. Finally, logistics costs are reduced to the equivalent of 16%-20% of GDP.
The Action Plan includes groups of tasks to upgrade policies and legislation on logistics services. Next, improve infrastructure capacity, enterprise capacity as well as service quality. At the same time, developing the market, training, raising awareness and quality of human resources in the logistics industry.
