By 2050, Ba Ria - Vung Tau aims to become the national maritime economic center

Ba Ria - Vung Tau has set the goal of maintaining a steadfast position among the top 10 provinces in terms of the highest Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) and state budget revenue nationwide, aiming to become the national maritime economic center by 2050. On March 29th, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, stated that the provincial planning had been approved by the Prime Minister at the end of 2023 and was being specified into objectives and key tasks for the province during the 2021 - 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.

The overarching goal is to comprehensively develop Ba Ria - Vung Tau into one of the key driving forces of development in the Southeast region, establishing itself as the national maritime economic center and ranking among the top 5 coastal economic development provinces in the country. By 2030, Ba Ria - Vung Tau is expected to meet the standards of a centrally governed city, featuring a multi-central urban structure and a comprehensive multi-modal transportation infrastructure system.

Looking ahead to 2050, Ba Ria - Vung Tau aspires to become the national maritime economic center, the maritime service hub of the Southeast Asia region, a high-quality international tourist destination, one of the major industrial centers in the Southeast region, with a modern and well-developed infrastructure system. The province envisions a safe, clean, and high-quality living environment, with social development harmonized with nature and an efficient economy oriented towards circular economy, green economy, low-carbon economy, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Modernizing the international gateway port of Cai Mep - Thi Vai is one of the key development focal points identified by Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Accordingly, the provincial planning emphasizes dynamic and sustainable development, based on ensuring key factors: "Good infrastructure, favorable environment, and skilled workforce."

Key development highlights include the modernization of the international gateway port Cai Mep - Thi Vai into a major international transshipment port, establishing a free trade zone, and constructing a national-level logistics center connected to the maritime ports in the Cai Mep area.

Developing large-scale industrial-urban-service complexes in the new city of Phu My to attract investments in oil refining, petrochemicals, electronics, robotics, integrated remote operation and control equipment, and Internet of Things (IoT) technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Developing Vung Tau City into a high-quality international tourist center, continuing to develop Con Dao into a national tourist destination, and creating eco-friendly urban systems to provide superior living environments compared to other cities in the Southeast region.

Society will develop harmoniously with nature, fostering sustainable economic development through green transitions, and contributing to achieving the commitments made by Vietnam at COP26 to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

Establishing high-tech industrial parks

Ba Ria - Vung Tau focuses on completing transportation networks connecting it with the Southeast region, promoting regional connectivity, and facilitating provincial connections with the region, the nation, and internationally, to truly establish Ba Ria-Vung Tau as the gateway of the region and the country.

Establishing high-tech industrial parks and eco-industrial parks to attract strategic investors and skilled labor in advanced manufacturing sectors utilizing modern technologies, in coordination with existing and planned industrial zones, urban areas, and service centers to form large-scale industrial-service-urban complexes.

Developing and modernizing the international gateway port Thi Vai - Cai Mep into a major international transshipment port, with regional and international significance, establishing a national-level logistics center and free trade zone linked to the maritime ports in the Cai Mep area, attracting strategic investors and designing a comprehensive and synchronized ecosystem applying leading international standards.

Forming tourist cities with integrated, modern infrastructure systems, providing safe, clean, and superior living environments; positioning Ba Ria - Vung Tau as an internationally renowned entertainment and resort destination.
