On the afternoon of July 6, Mr. Nguyen Van Trinh, Director of the Traffic Project Management Board in Cai Mep - Thi Vai port area, said that the selection of contractors, survey implementation and preparation of technical design documents, and construction design of such a project have been completed, then the construction will be started first on the shore of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, and the main spans will be built in the fourth quarter of this year.

In the project, such a bridge has a total length of more than 4.3 km, in which the spans length crossing over Thi Vai River is 3.5 km including 6 street lanes and paths connecting to Phuoc An port. Funding for construction of the bridge from the budget of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is 2,879 billion VND and the financial support from central government budget is about 2,000 billion VND, which has been approved by the Prime Minister for capital allocation.

It is expected that when Phuoc An Bridge is completed will connect Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-sea port cluster with Dong Nai province and the highways such as Ben Luc - Long Thanh highway and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay highway. Also, such a bridge can support to transport goods from the provinces in Mekong Delta to the port as well as reduce the number of vehicles on 51 National Highway.

It should be noted that the length of Thi Vai River is 76 km that is a natural boundary between Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. The downstream section of the river merging with the Go Gia River flowing into the sea is called Cai Mep River and create a cluster of deep-water seaports.
